Review: Figran D'an - Greatest Jizz And All That Jazz

Excerpt from Wookieerotica: A Star Wars Burlesque Parody

Greatest Jizz and All of Jatz
Jizz N Jatz Records

Bith music and Bith Jizz in particular has always had a very small and loyal fan base – the fact that D’an has managed to gain even a small following outside of the Outer Rim territories speaks volumes about his band’s ability to break through cultural barriers with what some consider to be the finest instrumental Jizz and Jatz compositions that the galaxy has heard since the time of Jasod Revoc.

This record contains not only all of D’an’s greatest hits (including a cover of Gariel Capen’s The Sequential Passage of Chronological Intervals), but also some rare demo sessions from the Civil War Period, such as the jaunty ommni-box driven Tatooine Gambit. Interestingly, the liner notes credit the band’s earlier songs from the Civil War Period as being penned by Fizzz player, Doik Na’ts and feature a much more staid approach to structure than D’an’s later experimental progressions in Jizz and Jatz sounds.

Controversially, this ‘best of’ collection is missing both Worm Case and Mad About Me and the band is remaining quiet as to the reason why, though some speculate that the band aren’t receiving royalties for these songs due to shady deals with Hutt mobsters. What is on offer here, however is an interesting look as the development of what many argue to be the pinnacle of Bith music, from simple kloo horn driven tear jerkers to the wild swing of duelling fanfars and it is doubtful that the galaxy will ever see the likes of this act again.
